MEET SUDS ME UP BUTTERCUP
WELCOME to Suds Me Up Buttercup!
I've always heard, and believe wholeheartedly, that people do business with people they like and have things in common with. Since beginning my adventure in creating skincare products, one thing that I have found to be true when meeting others at local events is a kindred spirit in someone who has both the same moral and personal interest I enjoy! It is so great to have a long conversation with a stranger and at the end feel a connection and bond- the soap becomes the cherry on top at that moment and there is nothing better than that feeling! So let me get to the point as I'm known to ramble on and on all day long (plus I like rhymes lol). I am a highly visual person so I thought what better way to get to know a little more about myself than with a image gallery of everything I love!
SHARING JESUS CHRIST
No matter what, the best thing I could ever tell anyone is this... JESUS CHRIST LOVES YOU MORE TODAY THAN HE DID YESTERDAY AND HE WILL NEVER STOP! Oh how great is the love of God. I feel so blessed to have been given this business and feel a great responsibility to use it as a platform to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. There are so many little things that each of us can do to share Jesus with others. Whether that be by giving out gospel tracts, praying for others' needs, saying Jesus loves you, or simply a hug and big smile... people need to feel the love of Jesus Christ through us (His believers)! Don't be afraid to strike up a conversation with me at an upcoming event about Jesus- I love to speak of the good things of Christ and become excited speaking about them as well! Just saying His name alone has the power to save.
"I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time." 1 TIMOTHY 2:1-5 KJV
BEING A GOOFBALL
"Cheesy" is my middle name and my main game! Grandma always said laughter is good medicine and I take a big dose each day! Life is too short to not enjoy. Laugh, smile, tickle someone, watch a funny movie... don't worry, be HAPPY!
FAMILY
Growing up I cherished spending time with my grandparents and uncles. Now as I am older those moments together mean even more. My family is so important to me and while distance may keep us apart they will never be missing from my heart!
TRAVELING THE WORLD
Did you ever play the game if you won a million dollars what would you do with it? Well my answer has always been to travel the world! I get it honestly from my grandfather and mother who both love to "burn up the roads" so to speak. Without any notice I love to just jump in my car and drive without a map not knowing where the road will lead me. Of course I make sure to have my camera nearby because I am always awaiting that next surprise around the corner to photograph - it is the thrill of the hunt baby! If I had it my way I would travel to all 50 states of America, visit every lighthouse on the East Coast, travel Route 66, explore every National Park, and go to each foreign country on the map. Never say never right!
Then there are all the local spots I love to hang out at that feel like home away from home. Thankfully living in North Carolina I am blessed to have such easy access to the mountains, cities, and beach all within a short drive of each other. My all-time favorite go-to spots are the Blue Ridge Mountains, Charlotte NC, Charleston SC, and when I get the chance Florida!
WATERFALLS
And how could I forget about the power of nature in the glorious shape of a waterfall. Every opportunity I have to visit one of these locations I am there. Of course there is no comparison to the one and only Niagra Falls in New York and Canada (okay maybe Victoria Falls in Africa which is only the largest waterfall in the world, but I've not been there yet). I still remember visiting Niagra and even a mile away from the falls you can feel the Earth rumble beneath your feet. Your heart begins to quicken with excitement and as you approach the water's edge you are almost hypnotized by it's alluring power. You absolutely must make it a priority to visit this place. In my humble opinion it should easily be listed as part of the Seven Wonders of the World!

And there is so much more about myself I would love to share with you. However, Suds Me Up Buttercup would not exist without a backstory, and so... I will leave you with all the details of how it really began.
LIFE'S SURPRISING JOURNEY:
There are two ways to look at life: that things just happen randomly or everything has a purpose, I believe in the latter of those two thoughts. From a young child I always loved playing in my mother's makeup cabinet and smell all of her perfumes and body products. Fast forward to after graduating high school and I found myself working in retail. Being surrounded by fashion and healthcare products set the groundwork for where I am today!
After college I knew I wanted to follow in my families footsteps and be self-employed. Becoming the first woman on both sides of my family to do so was quite an achievement I was proud of and for the next seven years I poured my entire life into a wedding photography business that spanned four states of coverage (VA/NC/SC/GA). However, God had other plans for my life and looking back it was the best thing to happen because it changed me into a God loving woman who wouldn't dare go back to who I once was.
One month after my 30th birthday I was diagnosed with cervical cancer which quickly spread into my lymph nodes and lungs. At first I was devastated, but quickly I had the assurance that it was not my time to leave this Earth and what satan tries to use to kill, steal, and destroy, having faith in Jesus Christ turns it around into a major opportunity that continues to lift up His name and give Him alone all the glory!
Going through all the chemotherapy, radiation treatments, pills, shots, extended hospital stays, and surgeries put my body through so much stress that it took every bit of strength in me to keep pushing forward and fighting. One thing I learned quickly is how wonderful our bodies are made. The intricate details of how each individual system works with another in our body is something I will never again take for granted. Experiencing cancer taught me one thing - we are responsible for our healthcare and that starts with what we put in our mouth and on our skin. If I had not gone through cancer my appreciation and knowledge for how our body is designed to work would have never happened. All things work together for the good of those that love Him!
THE NEXT STEP:
All of the treatments I received to help fight the cancer literally stripped my skin of it's protective layer and left me with severe skin sensitivities. From heat rashes, allergies to store bought products, and even nerve damage that was irritated by man-made chemicals; so many factors contributed to my health that began with things I was choosing to do to my body... it had to stop.?
That led to an extensive research of what I could do to mend the damage that was done. What I found is that God has already created ingredients from nature that are designed to heal our bodies and continue to rebuild our cells to increase our immune system's productivity. What encouraging news to find out. What began as a simple curiosity to fix my irritated skin became a new found passion that I wanted to share with others! Youtube and Google quickly became good friends as I spent endless hours researching how to create handmade skincare products.
SUDS ME UP BUTTERCUP IS BORN:
Just like that I took the plunge and started making my own soap to re-hydrate my skin. It worked!!! I was shocked at how creamy the natural soaps felt on my skin, how I didn't need to use lotions after showers, and overall I just felt so clean after bathing. I kept experimenting with different ingredients and learned even more.
Only a few months into my soap making journey, I expanded to create products outside the range of soap. Products such as bath tea salt soaks, solid lotion bars, and scrubs to exfoliate the skin and remove dead cells to promote healing.
It is a pleasure to be able to help you find natural skincare products that soothe your aching skin. Trust me when I say that I understand what you are going through when you are hurting from irritated skin and ailments. I know how it affects every aspect of your daily life, even sleep, and it is so vital that we nourish our skin to keep us healthy and living the life we are designed to have.
MY GOAL:
Create bath and body products that are vital to improving your skin's overall health. By using natural ingredients that encourage your body to heal itself from within and leave you with healthy, glowing skin from the inside out. No chemicals, no fluff, just good stuff for your entire body!
